Principal's Message

Notepad.pngDear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year! This year we will work on increased engagement, rigor, technology integration, higher level thinking skills, and project based learning. The following will enhance a safe and academically enriching environment:

• Every Monday is a minimum day unless there is another minimum day in the week. Students are dismissed at 1:00 p.m. During this time our teachers come together for professional development. Tuesday-Friday dismissal is at 3:30 p.m. Dismissal is at 3:30 p.m. on the first day of school for grades 1-6. Kindergarten (AM) hours (8:50 a.m. -12:10 p.m.) and Transitional Kindergarten (PM) hours (12:10 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.) remain the same Monday – Friday.

• CAPS is our after school program. This year we will offer performing arts and academic support led by certificated staff members. Progressive discipline will be implemented. Students who are not in our after school performing arts program may apply for tutoring and/or enrichment. If this is something you would like for your child CAPS applications are available in the office.

• Inghram is a CLOSED campus. If you need to enter our campus for any reason please come to the office with identification for a Visitor Pass and/or School Volunteer Application.

• The school day and student supervision begins with breakfast at 8:15 a.m. If your child needs supervision before this time, please contact local day care providers.

• Dismissal for Transitional Kindergarten (PM), 1st, 2nd, and special day class students will be at the main gate on 19th street at 3:30 p.m. Students in grades 3 through 6 will be dismissed in the grass area by the parking lot. Please continue to circle the parking lot until you see your student(s). Children with siblings will wait with the teacher of the youngest child. Please be courteous, follow the arrows, and read the signs in the parking lot during student pick-up and drop-off.

• Attendance is critical. Ensure your child arrives on time to school every day. Excessive tardiness, absences, and early dismissals will affect your child’s ability to meet criteria for awards. If your child is absent, please call the office immediately or send him/her with a note when they return.

Lastly, I would like to extend a personal invitation to join us for our Back to School Night on Thursday, August 16 from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. We would love to see you at all of our events and meetings!

Joan West, Ed.D.
